Episode 3 – Hope Redeemed Ministries

Episode 3 is FINALLY up! Christina and I sat down with Breanne McLendon from Hope Redeemed Ministries here in Central Arkansas. Her vision is to build an actual neighborhood where foster and adoptive families live – RENT FREE! – in order to provide a stable life for their kiddos. Breanne has a huge heart for serving people, especially children in foster care systems. You’ll want to hear what she’s up to and how you can help.

Episode 2 – It’s Because You’re Adopted — July 9, 2015

Episode 2 – It’s Because You’re Adopted

On Foster Adopt Village, Episode 2, I travel all the way to the other side of the bedroom to interview my wife, Christina Jones.

Christina is a fantastic blogger. She writes pretty raw, honest stuff about our life as an adoptive family. She’s conversational in tone and always honest and real. That’s why I wanted her on the show right away. She has a knack for saying what so many people are feeling but aren’t sure if they can say it or not. On this episode we discuss her latest blog post called, “It’s Because You’re Adopted.” It’s often taboo for us to acknowledge that our foster/adopted children are, in fact, foster/adopted children. But speaking the full scope of their story, helping them understand it in a redemptive context, can provide far more healing than pretending like they magically appeared in our families one day.

Enjoy the show.

I also hope you’ll help me get the word out about Foster Adopt Village by sharing us on Facebook and subscribing to the blog.

Next Podcast

Hey Village,

The Jones family has had some unexpected family matters to tend to. The plan was to release the next episode of Foster Adopt Village on Monday, but that will be delayed a couple days until we can get back home. It will feature the lovely and talented Christina Jones discussing thoughts from her latest blog post that got quite a bit of attention. It’s a beautiful piece on the reality of adoption – both good and bad – and why the phrase, “Because you’re adopted” comes loaded with meaning.

Check it out here if you’d like.

The next episode is coming soon. Until then, keep loving on your kids and leaning on your village!

Episode 1 – It is Within You — June 5, 2015

Episode 1 – It is Within You

Hello listeners! Hopefully it’s more than just my mom, but, if not, hi Mom.

This is the first episode of Foster Adopt Village. It’s mostly introductory in nature, but it lays some important groundwork for where this podcast will go in the future. This time, it’s just me speaking to you, and it may be that way for a while. But on future podcasts there will be guests who know way more than me about helping people navigate this crazy world. I hope you’ll take time to listen and that you’ll subscribe to the show once it’s on iTunes. I especially hope that you’ll interact in the comments section on the website as well as on the Foster Adopt Village Facebook page.

In this episode, I introduce you to our family. Here’s a picture of us (including Gertie, who was snoring on the couch):

And the passage I read from was Genesis 4:5-7.

FOR NEXT TIME

In the comments section, write any questions you have from the previous episode. Also, I’m always looking for guests to have on the show. If you know of somebody I should interview, leave their name in the comments and I’ll contact you for their information. Finally, if there are any topics you want to have addressed, leave those in the comments section as well. As the show progresses, I’ll try to get to as many as I can.
